Two MCG goalkickers, one tied total

Kysaiah Pickett and Bayley Fritsch each kicked 25 goals at the MCG in the recorded 2024 games. Equal totals conceal different appearance counts.

The evidence

Selected rows from the 2024 MCG goal-total result, including finals where played. Rates are calculated from the displayed totals and appearances.

Figures checked on 8 October 2026. Rates are rounded to two decimal places; later source corrections may change a result.

A shared lead stays shared

The recorded 2024 MCG goal-total result puts Kysaiah Pickett and Bayley Fritsch level on 25. One name must appear first in a table, but row order does not break that tie. Both are leaders for the selected total.

Their appearances differ: Pickett has 13 in the venue selection and Fritsch 14. That difference matters for a per-game question even though it has no effect on their equal goal totals.

Changing the measure changes the comparison

Pickett’s rate is 25 ÷ 13 = 1.9230… goals per appearance. Fritsch’s is 25 ÷ 14 = 1.7857…. Rounded to two decimals, that is 1.92 and 1.79. Pickett has the higher rate within this pair, while their totals remain tied.

Jacob van Rooyen’s displayed 20 goals in 14 appearances produce a rate of 1.43. These calculations describe the three selected rows. Re-sorting this excerpt by average would not establish the highest MCG average among every player: the full population and an appearance threshold would be needed for that claim.

Venue opportunity is part of the result

The filter selects games played at the MCG. It does not select the same number of games for every footballer. A venue-total leaderboard combines scoring output with the opportunity to play there; clubs and players can have different schedules and appearances.

This is why a venue total should not automatically become a statement about venue preference or specialist ability. To investigate those ideas, compare the player’s rates at other grounds over a common period and inspect sample sizes and opponents. The table alone does not establish a cause.

Keeping the evidence attached

State the season, ground, finals scope and measure when quoting the finding: Pickett and Fritsch were tied on the recorded 2024 MCG goal total. A statement about all grounds, a different season or regular-season games alone would be a different result.

The source link below contains the remaining leaderboard rows. Keeping that link with the finding lets a reader inspect how the selection was made rather than relying on the order of a three-row excerpt.
